Abstract
Optical Character Recognition with a Head-Mounted Camera (B)Status: Abgeschlossen
This project focuses on localizing and parsing text on hand-held business cards using a head-mounted camera. The parsed text can be used for example to search for the name in social networks, download the person's homepage, or to contact the person via e-mail or telephone.
Traditional OCR algorithms for document digitalization assume structured text and controlled lighting conditions and therefore they often fail in such free text recognition tasks. The purpose of this work is to develop an algorithm that can localize and recognize text on business cards in an uncontrolled environment.
This project requires an interest in image processing. The ideal candidate also has good programming skills. Student/Bearbeitet von: Thomas Knell Contact/Ansprechpartner: Gábor Sörös
