Sensor Capabilities for Auto-ID Infrastructure (P)

Status: Abgeschlossen

The goal of this project is to extend our existing Auto-ID Infrastructure to allow the processing of sensor information such as temperature, humidity, etc. in addition to the identification sensing capabilities of the infrastructure. That means, it should be possible to access the sensor observation of sensor that are attached to real world objects, which are identified by the infrastructure.

The Auto-ID Infrastructure facilitates the development of applications based on Radio-Frequency-Identification (RFID) technology. The infrastructure allows the application to monitor objects using a variety of RFID readers. Identification information coming from the readers is preprocessed and stored in a persistent location model. The application can access this information using special queries, or register states with the infrastructure in order to get notified about state changes.

In the current version the Auto-ID Infrastructure only monitors the objects using a unique ID of the objects. Since there are several RFID systems available that add sensors to the RFID tags (e.g. temperature sensors) it would be desirable to add these sensor capabilities to the Auto-ID Infrastructure.
