Building an Eco-System of Embedded Devices for the Web of Things (S)

Status: Abgeschlossen

Recently the web experiences a new breath and is evolving from serving and connecting virtual documents together to connecting and serving things. Within the Web of Things project we explore the use of web patterns (e.g. REST, RSS, HTTP, etc.) to integrate sensors, actuators and embedded computers to the web.

To evaluate our approach we are currently building a rich eco-system of these devices (e.g Sun SPOTS, Ploggs Energy Meters, Chumby, Hackable routers and NAS, etc.) In this lab or semester project (which can also be extended to a thesis on request) you will be asked to contribute to building this eco-system both by writing software and deploying the hardware.

The The Energie Visible project (video) is an example of what we are currently deploying.
